Stay away from Sprint

Posted on: January 4th, 2007 by g a

The good: Good coverage near large metropolitan areasThe bad: Everything elseSummary: Sprint is terrible. Customer "service" is abysmally poor (virtually non-existent), the billing statements are unintelligible and their practice of requiring a contract renewal with every change made to your plan is maddening. I have been on automatic payments for a year and not one month has gone by where the payment has not been collected by Sprint, necessitating a one-time payment for which they attempt to charge me $5. I am to the point where it will be worth it to me to pay the early termination fee because I have been wronged 100 too many times by this sinking ship of a company. I advise you to avoid Sprint at all costs.

The good: live tv and radio, free software, free email access, free roaming, free incoming plans. The bad: not much. sprints service just seems to get better for me.Summary: i have been with cingular and verizon and sprint is the best by far. better prices, better plans and more access to things like live tv and radio.roaming seems to fill in any gaps just fine. web access works while roaming. telenav works good with sprint.

Not as good as we want it to be.

Posted on: January 2nd, 2007 by Anonymous

The good: I wish I could give better answer but there isn't any good pros for Sprint/NextelThe bad: My wife and I drop way too many calls, & I can't get a signal sometimes. Summary: We will drop Sprint PCS when our contract comes to an end. We have 2 more months and we are going to switch to Verizon Wireless. We know a lot of people that had switch to Verizon Wireless from other companies and they are very happy.

Just felt the need to post my experience (THUMBS UP)

Posted on: December 31st, 2006 by Anonymous

The good: Large roaming coverage-great set of phones-web access plans are better then most-tons of plans to choose from-updated coverage maps-helpful care personal-loyalty discount for loyal customers-free incoming plans are prefect!-free software downloads offers from time to time-modem software right on the site-limited problems with dropped calls. The bad: If i had to list something i would most likely go with some customer care personal could use a a bit more training .Summary: I love Sprint! They have treated me very well over the years . After i spent a year with them i was giving a loyalty discount of 10% . Which might not sound like much but with a bill on adverage of 100 a month 10 dollars is a nice discount for no extra work on my part . I have the Sprint free incoming 800 with nights starting at night and the roaming option for free . It's a great plan for me seeing as most of my calls are incoming . I did have Nextel for a while before the two mergered but Sprint works better for me . I don't use the walki talki thing. I have been looking into the modem card plans . At my company we use the Sprint modem card plans for the dispatch workers . We were using Tmobiles edge cards but they are annoying to set up and have holes in coverage everwhere . Before that we were using a satellite modem company (Which i shouldn't name). There speeds were very slow though.I would suggest Sprint over Nextel though . But that is just me . For the price of plans, phones, features Sprint has been the best option for me.

It only works half the time with frequent "drop offs".

Posted on: December 31st, 2006 by David Abrams

The good: Not too many. The only thing I can think of was that they replaced the phone that I lost for only $45.The bad: It only works half the time. You can rarely finish a conversation due to the frequent "drop offs". It is very rare that you can talk for 10 minutes without a "drop off". Everyone I call tells me to switch from Sprint and that their cell company is much better.Summary: I have had Sprint for 4 years and it worked okay for the first 2 years. However, the incrase in people using cell phones and the many "dead" areas make it impossible to carry through even the shortest conversation. Even though the plan I have does not have "roaming charges", I continue to get messages that "roaming charges apply" or that Sprint is switching to "analog service" or "Spring is not working now" or "Too far to get a signal" when I am only a short distance from the other party. Unlike other companies, they rarely make any improvements in service, only in the phones they use, while their service in actually using the phone is only getting worse. I can think of a bad advertisement for Sprint, which happens only too frequently. Picture a group of people on an elevator all talking on cell phones and the one person on Sprint is the only one whose cell phone does not work. In all such places where Sprint does not work at all, I often see other people talking on their cell phones from other services. So it is certainly time to change.

I use sprint through an mvno humane wireless.

Posted on: December 31st, 2006 by jenna joilee

The good: very clear call quality, fast internet, havent dropped a call yet.The bad: i wish they offered a sidekick like phone.Summary: i was with verizon for about a year maybe a bit longer. their service in south florida is good but not great. i can't get a signal in my building unless it is night time. most of my family has sprint so i know they are dependable. i was going to switch to them but i found out that one of their mvno's is humane wireless. which donates to the humane society so i joined them. since they use sprints network, i can comment on the performance. calls sound great, as close to a landline that i have found. data speeds are fast. i have been using humane wireless for a little over a month now have have not dropped a call. service seems to be strong everywhere i go.i'm much happier now then before with verizon :)

Very Underrated Carrier!

Posted on: December 28th, 2006 by Russ S

The good: PDA data access $15, phone tethering, Power Visions content available off of EV-DO network, Free Sprint Mobile e-mail client, download any of the 500,000 Java applications made for Java, download custom made Java App's for Sprint for FREE, free voice and data roaming onto Verizon/Alltel/US Cellular/ect, can transfer DRM media onto phones, can transfer custom made movies onto phone free of charge, Phones are NOT Lock-Down like other carriers, free nights starting at 7PM, nights even starting at 6The bad: Nothing if you UNDERSTAND how to read user manuals, forums and call customer support in a POLITE MANNER.Summary: I am so sick of hearing people bash Sprint. The problems listed on this site and else where can be corrected so easily. There is Sprintusers, Howard Forums, Phonescoop, ect where customer can read and ask for help. They can call customer care and be polite to the rep. If that rep is not helping, then hangup and call back. I have been with Sprint for almost 4 years now. And I have learned all that I need to in order to get what I pay for every month. If you use Sprint, then you have so many more features and services available it is not even funny. But no one speaks of these. People just complain about every little problem they run into.Look at the Pros I wrote in. Those are all available to you! If you get poor service in your friends house, then set your phone to Roam-Only and use Verizon's and Alltel's voice and data roaming just like you would with Sprint (IT IS FREE TO SPRINT CUSTOMERS). You can even use Sprint's streaming content on Verizon's CDMA2000 network, something they disabled for their own customers! If your having a problem with coverage, call Sprint and ask for a PRL roaming update. If you have a data issue, goto a forum and ask for help. Call a Sprint rep, go into a store. If you want to check your e-mail, then download a Free e-mail client. If you want to view HTML, then download Opera Mini for free. If you want to transfer free movies, music, ringtones, wallpapers to your phone, then buy a data cable or use an on line unloader. All of this info is on any forum. So if you like being forced to download content from your current carrier. If you like be forced to pay extra for e-mail. If you like spending $40 a month to use our PDA. Then go with another carrier. But if you are a techie who wants to use Everything included in your phone and service, then stick with Sprint. But stop complaining because you can't figure out how to do something.

Sprint Current Customers No Deals For Cell Phones

Posted on: December 21st, 2006 by James Avendano

The good: My plan rocks, it was introduced as a promotional offer and I took it, and now people pay more than I do for the service I have. The bad: Sprint will NOT give the deals they offer to new customers to their existing ones on new cell phones. They give you crappy rebates that would not even cover a month of service.Summary: I am thinking about switching to anther provider and consider my losses. I really want a new cell but there is no way in hell that I am paying 300 for one.

Soon to be Ex-Sprint Customer

Posted on: December 16th, 2006 by L. Fort

The good: Used to be innovative and competitiveThe bad: Dropped calls, unfair treatment of customersSummary: When a company has to insist on a "new contract" for any change you make, their product can't be that good. I've been with them for over 6 years and have had enough. My contract is up and I wanted to change my plan, no problem as long as I agree to a new 2 year contract (after 6 years I should do this because???). They must be losing a lot of customers to resort to this crap. I think I'm going to give Revol a shot. No contracts, $37 month for unlimited service. I think one of their billboards was targeted towards Sprint customers - "we don't need contracts because we don't stink". Even the settlement offer for the class action suit filed against Sprint by some disgruntled customers contained a requirement that your acceptance of the settlement payment would automatically extend your contract 2 years. Unbelievable.
