If there’s something that makes Silent Circle stands out in the ever so competitive smartphone industry, it’s the fact that their models focus on providing customer privacy. As evident in their first model, the Blackphone, there must be something they’re doing right. So much so that they have created a second iteration of the smartphone in the form of the Blackphone 2. This 2015 model comes with improved specs, starting off with the 5.5-inch 1080p display which is a few inches taller than its 4.7-inch predecessor. The phone runs on a 1.7GHz octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM with an internal storage of 32GB. There’s a microSD card slot available for memory expansion. To take photos from the device, there’s a 13MP rear-facing camera and a secondary 5MP sensor in the front. The battery on the phone has also been improved from 2000mAh to 3060mAh removable battery with quick charging capability. Along with Android, the Blackphone 2 will be available with a proprietary Silent OS that promotes the user’s privacy through the use of its encrypted apps for messages and voice calls.
