Horrible phone - you get what you pay for.

Posted on: November 26th, 2007 by Pauline S

The good: Cheap/free, long battery lifeThe bad: Sluggish performance, poor picture quality, not durable, low quality speakerphoneSummary: I take pretty good care of my cell phones, but this one has not survived the past year well at all, despite that. The side buttons haven't worked in months, meaning that I can no longer silence incoming calls. Volume now has to be changed from within the settings menu - a pain in the arse when you're in a hurry. The interior screen is starting to fade. The ringtones suck, so be prepared to download some different ones, at your own expense, of course. Response time is extremely sluggish. Expect to wait several seconds every time you start or end a call for the desired result. Oh, and after ending a call, you have to push "end" like three times to get out of the repeated inane options it tries to give you every time. Speakerphone volume is far too low - the other person can barely hear/understand you unless you're talking right into it (defeats the purpose, doesn't it?) or shouting. Reception with this phone is horrible. Overall, a huge piece of junk. Pay more and get something far better.

The phone's not that bad

Posted on: August 19th, 2007 by Shaahiyda 4wat???

The good: voice memo notepadbattery lifeThe bad: cameraSummary: okay so the camera isn't the best but whatever if theres a problem with you pushing buttons then get a phone case, its better for your phone anyway. Also the phone comes with a voice memo so if you dont like the ringtones it comes with [what phone comes with good ringtones anyway] and u dont wanna pay to download then you can record your own. The battery life is awesome to me. if i use it a lot it lasts a day and a half, if not maybe 3 days, but if a day and a half isnt a good enough battery life for you then charge it. They send you chargers with the phone u know.= ]

Not bad for a free phone

Posted on: February 21st, 2007 by Jane Branch

The good: Light up keypad, speaker phone, & takes abuse wellThe bad: low quality camera, really bad ringtones choices, & poor receptionSummary: I got this phone free when I signed up and I have had it over a year now. The camera is really poor quality, I have yet to take a picture worth keeping. I do have lots of pictures of the inside of my pocket though! I hate all the ringtones that come with this phone. I finally had to download one that I liked. When I am downstairs in my house and my phone rings I have to run upstairs before answering the call. The reception is horrible on this phone in a lot of locations. The battery lasts about 2 days with not a lot of use. 1 day if you use it a lot.

LG PM-225

Posted on: December 12th, 2006 by Susan Warren

The good: This phone is durable and easily read. The lights on the phone are bright and the blue keypad backlight is great at night, bright and easy to see. I share my phone with a pre-teen who has been VERY rough on it, and it's stood up extremely well. I like the interchangable faceplates and how the phone fits in my hand. The bad: Purchasing extras ((batteries, charger, ear piece)) for the phone was expensive and hard to find. I do not like the camera or the options on the phone. Pics always had problems and hard to see. The screensavers and display pics leave a lot to be desired.Summary: In all I have kept and used this phone almost 2 years. I would love to have a new one, with my cons turned into pros, I would be happy. Good phone with a need for some improvments.

Buyer Beware

Posted on: November 26th, 2006 by Alex Wells

The good: SpeakerphoneLarge contacts listThe bad: To numerous to list here, see summarySummary: This phone has suddenly stopped ringing or displaying that I missed a call. It no longer allows me to send text messages either. I have taken excellent care of it, never dropped it or got it wet or anything. Even when it "worked" (I use the term loosely) it did the same thing occasionally, which seems to be a problem with other LG phones as well. The phone is designed poorly overall. The camera is useless as the picture quality is horrible. If the camera function is not locked, it will activate in your pocket and remain on indefinitely and drain the battery as the camera button on the side protrudes excessively and will activate the function even when the phone is closed. The battery life itself is relatively short even with minimal use (3 days max). To often has the battery life indicator displayed half of the battery life left and then the phone will die during a one minute phone call without warning. It has a "power saver" function, which means that the display is either always on, draining the battery like nothing else, or the display will stay on for 30-90 seconds whether or not the phone is in use. If you are on a call or reading text, it will turn off, which sucks if you want to see how long you've been on a call or want the display on for other various reasons. In contrast, other phones will turn off the display when the phone is flipped closed and allow the display to remain on without backlight during a call and the battery life doesn?t suffer a bit. The text message menu is unnecessarily complicated, but you won't be able to send them anyway after less than a year of use. There is only one speed dial available per contact, so adding multiple numbers per contact is pointless if you want speed dial, thus making the multiple number per contact function impractical. Voice quality is decent when there is good signal reception (about half the time in urban/ suburban area). The speakerphone is decent. Sometimes the phone will log onto the web for no reason and the only way to disconnect is to turn it off. The menus have serious lag. Whoever designed this phone needs to be fired. I had a Samsung before this, it worked perfectly for years. It took several speeding cars driving over to phone kill it. I bought this one because it seemed similar. As it has been reduced to a paperweight with an indicator light (another wonderful function), I will be purchasing a new Samsung. I will never buy any LG product, ever, period. BUYER BEWARE

Good Little phone

Posted on: August 23rd, 2006 by Stephen Morris

The good: Great quality for being a free phone. Battery life is excellent. 500 phone entriesThe bad: Some of the default ringtones are cheesy. Photo quality less than disirable. Data cable not capable of transfering photos.Summary: This has been a great little free phone. I was very hesitant on going with this phone at first but now I'm glad I did. Although the sound quality of some of the ringtones are cheesy the sound quality of the call is excellent. Very good reception considering no external antenna.
