Best phone for messaging

Posted on: July 14th, 2006 by Meaghan S.

The good: No more predictive text or cryptic abbreviations.Full QWERTY keyboard when flipped open. When open, still small enough to hold comfortably. When closed, still a compact phone.Bluetooth compatible.Nice color screen. Can be used to send regular email, not just text messages to other phones. The bad: Some color schemes can't be seen against the wallpaper.Camera quality mediocre (but you're not buying it for the camera...)Message length outbound is puny (about 140 chars); inbound, it will string 3 messages together, giving approx 320 chars.Summary: Before Nokia came out with this 6820 model, I had their 6800, which was a little longer and a little fatter. Considering it has a full QWERTY keyboard, this one is sleek and compact. The flip-open keyboard means no more T9 predictive text guessing the wrong word, and no more bizarre abbreviations: spell it out! It will even accept longer inbound messages than just 140 characters; it just splits them into 140-character chunks.I am afraid that Nokia will discontinue this model in favor of Blackberries or other similar types which offer lots of bells and whistles nobody ever uses on a regular basis. Until then, I will treat this one with great care!
