The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 comes in two sizes, 40mm and 44mm, and two styles: an aluminum model with a fluoroelastomer band and a stainless steel version with a leather strap. One of the major new features of the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is its rotating touch bezel, which allows you to navigate the OS by rotating clockwise and counter-clockwise on the display.
Speaking of the display, the smaller 40mm Galaxy Watch Active 2 has a 1.2-inch 360x360 Super AMOLED screen with full color Always On Display and Gorilla Glass DX+, while the larger 44mm watch has a 1.4-inch 360x360 Super AMOLED screen. Another difference between the two watches is battery size, with the 44mm version packing a 340mAh battery and the 40mm watch coming with a 247mAh battery.
Both watches are powered by Samsung's 1.15GHz dual-core Exynos 9110 processor. Both also have 4GB of storage, but the LTE version gets 1.5GB of RAM while the non-cellular version has 768MB of RAM. Samsung has given both watches 20mm interchangeable straps.
On the software side, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is running Samsung's Tizen OS. Samsung has included several of its custom apps, like the Health app that'll track more than 39 workouts using the improved health sensors on the watch that take readings faster. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 also offers sleep analysis algorithms, real-time stress level tracking, and a Watch Camera Controller that'll let you use the watch to take photos or record video on your paired Samsung Galaxy phone.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be available for pre-order starting September 6 ahead of its September 27 launch. Customers who pre-order can get a free wireless charger portable battery with their new smartwatch.
Pricing will start at $279.99 for the 40mm Galaxy Watch Active 2 and $299.99 for 44mm watch. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 LTE will be available from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, and Verizon starting on September 27.
