ALLTEL Wireless Reviews See All ALLTEL Wireless News

Purchased by Verizon Wireless on January 9, 2009, Alltel Wireless is still operating on its own in certain markets per the agreement. Package plans combine Alltel wireless, home telephone, and Internet services; regional and national plans are also available, with free nationwide long distance. Most of their plans have unlimited nights/weekends, too. Their "My Circle" feature provides free calling to select numbers on any carrier's network. Check out Alltel Wireless reviews.

I never have any service in my area

Posted on: August 23rd, 2006 by AMBR STEWART

The good: The phone is a very nice phone has camera and all that would really great if I could use my phone!!The bad: Ir never picks up any service!Summary: I never have any service in my local area and I'm paying a lot of money for my cell phone every month. I thought mabye with a booster that it would help with my problem and that way im not walking around in circles or almost hanging my head out the car window trying to get a call in. I'd hate it if I really needed to make an important call and I broke down or something because my calls always drop or just dont ever work!!

Great Service Here!

Posted on: August 22nd, 2006 by Mary Slone

The good: Extensive service area, few dropped calls in a rural setting. The bad: No real cons.Summary: Alltel has provided us with top-notch service. We live in a rural setting, which is also very hilly, so having a service with few dropped calls is amazing! We have never had any issues that were not resolved in a quick manner. Very good service, would recommend highly!

Service with Alltel

The good: easy bill payconvenienceThe bad: My cell phone died & I bought a refurbished one exactly like the one I had & I have been dissappointed in it as it does not have all the extras my original one had.Summary: I have had very good service, few dropped calls, problems with bill have been resolved promptly, and assistance has been easy to obtain. Sales person was very knowledgeable & helpful & wait time in their store is always minimal.

Not that great service

Posted on: August 16th, 2006 by Melinda Fisher

The good: The plans have comparible rates and there are lots of phone choices. The bad: The service doesn't always have great reception. Sometimes calls are lost. Not good reception in Glen Dale, WV.Summary: There's not always service with Alltel depending on your location. I am in valleys and hills, so I sometimes lose calls or don't have service. Hope this helps.

Alltel needs more service to rural areas

Posted on: August 14th, 2006 by diana tosch

The good: I enjoy the dropped call minute back, plus the circle plan for up to 10 friends. The bad: Service is awful at my house, 6 miles off of interstate. Summary: I enjoy Alltel customer service, their calling plans and the minute price packages. I do wish Alltel would commit to providing more service to rural America...we like to have a choice to use our cell phones at home as well as on the go.

Alltel

The good: They offer a prepaid service which fits my life great. I can use minutes when I need and save a lot of money. The bad: The connection to towers is awful.Summary: I don't know if it is because I have a prepaid set up and I don't pay a lot of money for a year or two contract but my phone doesn't pick up signals very well at all. I am not very pleased with the system. They say no dropped calls ...that may be for the ones who have signed up for contracts but not for those of us who pay by the minute. I wish they had stronger connections. I am not sure my phone would even reach 911 if I needed to .

Alltel U -- Minute-by Minute Plan

Posted on: August 5th, 2006 by M Ellis

The good: No contracts, no periodic renewals, only $0.15 a minute (unless roaming--then it's #0.59 per minute), must make one 1-minute call every 30 days or you will be charged a $4.99 inactivity fee. The bad: None.Summary: We got the Motorola v262 on Alltel U's minute-by-minute prepaid plan since we retired to a mountainous, rural state where you still may roam on analog. I must say, the service has been excellent and for the first time since we retired here, we get a cell phone signal inside our house. We actually get 3 bars in our house! We haven't roamed yet; all our calls have been consistently billed at $0.15 a minute. We don't use excessive amounts of minutes with our cellphone since we have a great VOIP plan, but we love the reliability and signal stregth we're getting with Alltel. Plus, the areas where we'll be roaming are a lot fewer and farther between on Alltel U. Best of all, since we ordered online, Alltel gave us $20 worth of minutes free. I would recommend Alltel's prepaid U plan to anyone who wants a prepaid account. If you're a high volume user who just doesn't want a contract, they have 2 other flavors of prepaid that offer more bells and whistles--U pay-by-day and U pay-by-month. Just check the details at www.alltelu.com
