Very happy with Tracfone

Posted on: November 27th, 2007 by Kent Jones

The good: No contracts, no penalties, no monthly bills, no roaming, Minutes do not expire each month, voicemail notification of messages received is almost always nearly instantaneous, signal strength is very good due to Tracfone's contracts with various carriers. If you invest in the annual plan and one time double minutes programs, cost of use is very reasonable, especially during "prime time" and to other countries (no extra cost). My wife and I have been customers for years and Tracfone's customer sThe bad: It can be difficult and time consuming to get your existing phone number ported over to a new phone.Summary: I recommend Tracfone for most people who don't use a cell phone a lot and if they don't need a "high end"/ fancy phone.

Its not worth it

Posted on: November 24th, 2007 by Anonymous

The good: No contracts, cheaper for number of minutes I useThe bad: Terrible customer serviceSummary: Don't bother trying to port your old number to tracfone. It took them over a month to get it done. Each time I called for an update it takes a long time because:A. the reps are not in the u.s., B. their computer systems are slow, C. the communication/understanding issues means you have to talk slow. Now my phone can make a call but if people call me they get a message saying the phone number is not in service. I had to spend over an hour on the phone to get the service fixed.

Tracfone

Posted on: November 18th, 2007 by priscilla ammons

The good: Cheap to buy minutesThe bad: Minutes go fastSummary: I have been using tracfone and buying and reloading the phone is easy, You can even buy the minutes straight from your phone which makes it convienant if you don't want to shop online or get out to buy them. I have never had a problem receiving my airtime or bonus air time. I just wish the minutes didn't go so fast, or maybe I just talk to much. :| but at any rate it is a great company for a pay as you go.

unnacceptable customer service

Posted on: November 7th, 2007 by Jen sudduth

The good: you technically control how much you spend on it, there really arent any hidden charges. works anywhere in the US.The bad: the prices for minutes are outrageous. 19.99 for 60 minutes is simply way too much considering the competitors prices, and there seems to be an issue where your phone will be unable to send text messages, but when you try it will still take the minutes off of your phone. and recharging your minutes sometimes takes upwards of 24 hours.Summary: do not buy. the startup may be cheaper than other phones and companies, but if you plan on using it more than a couple weeks your better off finding something with more reasonable prices and customer care.

Good service for customers

Posted on: October 12th, 2007 by Mauricio Cardenas

The good: No contracts, you control the minutes you use, perfect for children and emergency use. If you use more than 300 minutes a month you'd better get a Net10 phone. The bad: Maybe the problem is the knowledge we have about technology and devices. We have three technologies in this wide country and obviously there are areas in which one of these technologies WILL not work. We call and blame the poor representatives, but TracFone depends on the signal their network providers have. They have a good coverage in most areas, but null in some of them.Summary: I'm happy with my TracFone. It works OK for me. I would advise you to get a TracFone but before you do it, make sure you call them or email them and ask for the coverage in your local area.

Poor customer service

Posted on: October 1st, 2007 by Kristene Nope

The good: NoneThe bad: Poor customer service, outragious per minute charges, poor quality phoneSummary: We bought this phone for my son. He has tried texting several times which according to the phone it says unable to send but, yet still takes his minutes. They promise to credit minutes but, you never see them. NOBODY speaks Engish when you call customer service. I just have NOTHING good to say about this company!

Have had Tracfone for over 5 years now...NO PROBLEMS!

Posted on: September 30th, 2007 by Kelly Smythe

The good: no contracts, no fees, no surprisesThe bad: a bit expensive minutes (but I use mine for emergencies only)Summary: I've had the same Motorola phone for over 5 years, and it works great! Just found the double minutes plan (around $50 for doubling minutes on EVERY purchase, for as long as you own the phone). Reception is great in my hilly, remote area. I will never switch (I HATED my Verizon cell phone service, which was all that was available when we started!).Great service for my needs! (I've used customer service a few times...yes, a bit hard to understand, but I've had no problem figuring it out and they've always come through for me).

Want to replace my Motorla flip phone with a cheap mode.

Posted on: September 26th, 2007 by Marian Heeren

The good: Good ServiceThe bad: Lousy service, no contact unless it is with customer service you can't understand and will not give a straight answer.Summary: They want to replace my Motorola flip phone (59 dollars) with a cheap one from their web site. $14.95 saying it will get better reception in my area. the one I have works fine and I can get no satisfaction from them. Only telling me it will be better and I will not be able to use my old phone. Bait and switch.. They didn't tell me any of this until after I put a 1 year card on my old phone. $100.00 shot if I don't go with their new cheap phone. Can any one give me a straight answer. Who is running this company???????????????

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE

Posted on: September 26th, 2007 by Lucia H

The good: NoneThe bad: One second is a minute (unit)Bad to no coverage where other cell phones have excellent coverageBad qualityTerrible phonesRip-offSummary: This is basically a scam. One second is one minute by their standards. Bad phones, and poor coverage. When you do get through, there is bad service quality. Their phones are cheap and poor. They are very low-quality. DO NOT GET A TRACFONE EVER.
