Have been with then for 12 years - love it.

Posted on: July 27th, 2009 by J Coates

The good: Great customer service, best rates in town, no surprises on bill. The bad: Don't have the latest and greatest in handsets.Summary: Been with them since 1997. Never had a surprise on my bill or a problem that the 611 customer service person couldn't help me with. The regional manager is wonderful, and I recommend that if you aren't happy, ask to speak to someone higher up in the organization. I love them and am going to renew for another 2 years next month.

Glass Half Empty or Half Full?

Posted on: June 6th, 2009 by Suzanna and Roger Wimbush

The good: Reps that will go out of their way to get you the service that you demand or want, go by polices and regulations. The bad: Slow at getting better phones, small companySummary: How dare you guys talk about a cell phone company as great as nTelos. Maybe if you use that mind of yours, you can see that almost every carrier DOES NOT own the tower. So if you are on Verizon, they split that tower with other carriers in order to keep cost and market down. All carriers do this so your a dummy if you don't realize it. Also I have been a loyal customer of nTelos for about 13 years and never had a problem. Maybe if you go into a store and talk to these human beings like people and stop putting the blame on them for your life you would be fine. Do your judging and you see that most carriers are the same. But nTelos still have the lost prices around. If you have shot up credit, GO TO NTELOS. The prepay is the best way to go. Talk unlimited local, unlimited w/t long dis+ text, unlimited w/t long distance text pics data 411.....Get out of here...Go NTELOS. Yall ROCK!! Great deals since PRIMCO and super deals with nTelos.

I hate Ntelos. They don't keep their word.

Posted on: May 20th, 2009 by Sonya D

The good: Nope, not really nay pros except a free crappy phone. The bad: The amount of time I had to spend to get the deal they said they'd give was not worth it. They change policies on you without telling you. CS reps agree to change things and then never do.Summary: I used Ntelos when they had a "Try our service free for 30 days, if you don't like it pay nothing!" sort of a 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy. I had never owned a cel phone before. I asked they lady "Hey if I don't end up using a cel phone and decide it's not for me can I return it and pay nothing?". She said "Yes." I asked it repeatedly and still got a yes. Fast forward 20 days later. No I don't want a cell phone, at least not a long-term contract one because I almost never use it. I tell her and she charges me a $75 restocking fee for my Free Phone! I pay it and then tell my husband, the lawyer who deals in fraud. So he goes and asks fro a refund of the price, pointing out their policies on the free phone trial. After three seperate visits and phone calls I get my $75 back. They make it as horrible as possible. Then after I've turned in the phone I still get a bill for next months *and* last months' service. My husband again goes and points out - I wasn't satisfied therefore it's free. They say we still ahve to pay for our service we used. There is a giant sign on the door saying "If you don't liek it, it's free!". It is a lie. My husband called many people and returned to the store several times and mostly we just refused to pay the bill. Eventually they admitted we owe them nothing and removed the charges. Guess what happened the next month? Yep we got another bill. Which we then had to take to them and point out we no longer had the phones, were not using them and owed nothing.I hate Ntelos. No one should trust them or use them. FULL OF LIES!!

NTelos is HORRIBLE!!!

Posted on: April 11th, 2009 by Serrano Leigh Anne

The good: Cheap(you get what you pay for!!!!)The bad: Terrible customer service, terrible phonesSummary: I have been with Ntelos for 5 years and now can't wait to be out of my contract. The cheap rates no longer make up for being treated like sh-t. There are hidden fees for EVERYTHING, and now they want to CHARGE me to renew my contract. BYe-bye Ntelos!!!

Sucks like a Hoover

Posted on: March 19th, 2009 by Melissa Adkins

The good: Their crappy phone selections make ideal paper weights. Customer service reps sometimes take their feet down from a counter to ask you "yeah, what do you want?" I can sometimes hold a conversation without getting a dropped call (as long as I'm inside one of their stores or on the very top of a mountain next to a tower)The bad: ntelos has never been a good provider of cellphone service for me. I was lured into a two year contract by a slick sales person who immediately became rude as soon as the contract was signed. Nearly every experience I've had since has reinforced my VERY bad impression of the company. I've had no luck with tech support, sales, internet, or any other aspect of the company (including billing) The one nice person I spoke with one time now works for a competitor.Summary: Look elsewhere! Don't invest your hard earned dollars on a company that not only will not appreciate you as a customer, they actually make you feel as if they resent you. If you like hitting your head against a wall or smashing your thumb with a hammer, by all means sign up for a two year root cannal like i did!

The good: Cheap. The bad: Dropped calls, ok phones, and a team of customer service reps that take 3 days to call you backSummary: We have a business account with NTelos that was set up before I began working for my company. All of our business is local in the Hampton Roads area...and let me tell you, the reception is awful! I get at least 3-4 dropped calls per day and I'm sitting in my office in Norfolk! I have to constantly move my phone from one side of my desk to the other to receive missed calls...it's just random; sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. If you are a business considering NTelos, test out their phones first in your area. I am calling to cancel soon

NTelos

Posted on: January 3rd, 2009 by Melanie Lewis

The good: Good coverage, fair price, no customer service problemsThe bad: None so far except maybe that we have to wait for bigger companies to release rights to newer phones.Summary: I am sorry that so many have had problems with NTelos. I have the exact opposite experience. I switched to NTelos about 5 years ago and LOVE the service. I am even more excited with this company after our local news station did an unbiased review of the various service providers in our area. NTelos came out on top for having the best reception, fewest dropped calls and lowest price. I had been with ATT who was bought out by Suncom. Once the buy out was announced, I called ATT and asked them if I was unhappy with the service, could I drop the plan. I was told yes. Once the buyout was complete and ATT was Suncom, my service with them suffered. Dropped calls were common and the price increased. I called to cancel my service and was told that I would have to pay $200 to get out of my contract. I kept ATT until the contract was finished and then switched to NTelos. I am a teacher that travels between several different schools in a rural area. I have NEVER had a problem getting reception with NTelos except on a new bypass, and that was fixed later. Too, once my children ran my bill over by about $150 with texting. I called NTelos who granted me grace and removed the charges. I upgraded my service to include texting as I learned that teens would rather text than talk.A colleague of mine recently purchased an IPhone. He was trying to convince me that I would love an IPhone. Maybe so but if I have to leave NTelos to ATT to get an IPhone, forget it! Thank you, NTelos, for a great service.

NTelos is the BEST!!

Posted on: January 3rd, 2009 by Anonymous

The good: Everything from affordable monthly plans to customer service (in stores & by phone). The bad: Only cons are the rude, ignorant & dishonest insurance company & reps they now contract with -which is NOT an Ntelos company - PLEASE find another Insurance Co for us to deal with!! Also, Motorola phones are garbage & their customer service is non-existent - 2 emails & NO response.Summary: I have been with Ntelos since they came into my area as Primeco. I have never had ANY problem with receiving signals or dropped calls. In fact, I have had service in areas, like Cape Hatteras when my friends, who had AT&T, Sprint, etc did not. Any issues with signals usually reflects on the type of phone you have, & if its Motorola, forget it!! or that its so rural that no one else can get a decent signal on ANY network. Customer Service has always been outstanding. They're friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. Tech support has helped me resolve a couple issues over the years, & are awesome. I even had a Rep do a 3-way call with me & the Ins Co to help resolve an issue, but unfortunately it did not work as the Ins Co emoploys rude & ignorant people who have NO interest in helping a customer once they have your money. When I started texting more than usual, they called me, & got me on a plan, that not only would save me money in the future, but prorated it for that month & saved me about $50. And people, just because you may have had 1 bad rep or experience, which is hard to imagine with this co., that's gonna happen with ANY company eventually - so be reasonable.

Tech Support is Ignorant

Posted on: November 14th, 2008 by Gilkey Milkey

The good: I get their signal at my houseThe bad: Everything else about nTelos is bad.Summary: I have the Blackberry 8830 phone. According to Blackberry, the phone can work as a tethered modem. nTelos tried to tell me that it would not work that way. I informed them otherwise. Then they gave up and just told me that me that my question is outside their training.... WHAt??!!!

nTelos is better than ATT

Posted on: November 11th, 2008 by John Kong

The good: Low cost, real live customer service reps (short wait times)The bad: Too few stores & lack of phone selection --> maybe a merger with another mobile company (ie Sprint) Summary: I switched to nTelos July 2008 and have not had any problems with the cellular provider at all. I did, however, have problem with my HTC Touch. It had a tendency to freeze up on me, so nTelos just sent me another. I enjoy their low cost smart phone plans (my bill is $82.09/mon). I shopped around. Other carriers had their smart phone plans starting at $79.99!! All in all, aside from the lack of phone selection, I enjoy nTelos service.
